ArtEX is a not-for-profit Association based in central Italy in the city of Todi, Umbria, a location that reflects and acknowledges the strong associations and expertise that this region has established in the world of Contemporary Art at both a regional and global level.

Objectives

Cultural Exchange

to position Umbria as an acknowledged centre and showcase for world Contemporary Art.

• Inwards Exchange – bringing world art into Umbria
• Outwards Exchange – taking Umbrian art to the world

Activities

Managing, promoting and logistical support of a range of activities Including but not limited to:

• Art workshops and master classes
• Exhibitions
• Artist in Residence

Social and Community

to foster and contribute to an active contemporary art community to enrich the region both culturally and commercially with an emphasis on:

• supporting and encouraging emerging artists; and
• collaborating with local art associations and communities.

Contemporary Art scope

to support a range of original visual arts including but not limited to:

• Painting
• Sculpture
• Photography
• Ceramics
• Installations
• Objet d’Arte such as jewellery and furniture

and to establish an expertise in new and future art directions, especially where recent technologies opens up new artistic possibilities such as in the digital sphere.

Launch and Growth Plan

The launch plan is to begin small and start ArtEX with a selected group of members to prove the viability of the venture and if necessary modify the starting objectives and activities over the first two to three years.  Once the modus operandi and financial viability have been established, the association will then incrementally expand and broaden both the activities and the membership.

Stage 1 – Inwards Exchange: 2021

with first inwards exchange activities:

• facilitate and support first Art Workshops/Master Classes from offshore participants along with associated local activities. Arrangements with an Australian partner are now underway for the first workshops.
• integrate, co-ordinate and build relations with other local Art oriented associations, ventures and galleries, to promote and support local events directly related to Inwards Exchange workshop activities.

Discussions with a view to establishing ‘collaboration in principle’ arrangements have commenced with other local art associations or ventures and the Todi Commune with more to follow.

• start the ArtEX digital web-site.
• facilitate first trial inwards Art Exhibitions (from offshore) to Umbria in conjunction with local Galleries, Associations and Communes.
• facilitate initial trials to Artists in Residence (from offshore) if opportunities arise

Stage 2 – add Outwards Exchange: 2022

with first outwards offshore exchange activities:

• arrange first offshore Art Exhibitions promoting Umbrian artists globally (using offshore Exchange relationships developed in Stage 1)
• manage first Artist in Residence trial projects
• expand the ArtEX’s digital capabilities to become part of the avant-garde in digital art directions from both an early adopter supporter perspective and as a commercial opportunity to support the Association financially in the long-term.
• integrate, co-ordinate and build relations with Umbria regional Art oriented associations and galleries and offshore Art bodies and associations related to outwards exchange exhibitions.

Stage 3 – Mature Operation

• open/expand offshore connections to multiple countries repeating Stages 1 and 2
• build relations with Italian national Art oriented associations and official bodies
• consider establishment of annual Umbrian art awards or similar notable event related to the objectives of Artex.
